Zephyr Six Mk.I [EOTTA], 1951-6. (Not a Zodiac, in spite of colour scheme; the script on the RH bootlid is too short.) -- Last edit: 2013-11-26 08:59:56 |

Please have a look on this Zephyr Zodiac http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Zephyr_Zodiac_rear.jpg where one can see that the badges weren't very big in those days. If choosen as a Zephyr Zodiac it cannot be anything else than a 1954 MY (introduced in oct 1953) as from 1955 they had bigger rear lights, like the one in the link. |

I still think it reads Zephyr Six, but I'm not going to start a war over it. The bigger rear lights were simply reflectors glued on to the existing lights; IIRC there was some regulation about reflectors about then. |

How often were cars resprayed in those days? I'm not sure, but I think Ford still used a cellulose based paint on the Mk1, which took aconsiderable time to apply (some ten thin layers which afterwards had to be polished to achive a lustre). I still think this is a Zephyr Zodiac. |
