This is Cais Pharoux (Pharoux Docks) were there was the ferry-boat connection between Rio de Janeiro and the Niterói, the other city in Guanabara Bay. This blue ferry belonged to Valda shipping company and there was another ferry company in 1958, Cantareira, which operate old paddle-wheel white ferries, steam powered. After 1973, a bridge Rio de Janeiro-Niterói was ready and those ferries descontinued.
