Please note: this scene is from the director's cut of the movie. It is not in the standard cut.

I can guarantee this is NOT a 1986 model. The fiberglass bumper makes it either a 1987 or newer model.

1986 was probably chosen with these new headlamps. For 1987 the bumpers had not changed much from 1986, unless a Wolfsburg Edititon

From 1988 the 'integrated' plastic bumpers were standard

So, do you want to list as a 1987 Vanagon Wolfsburg Edition then?

Well, I already knew these headlamps were introduced in 1986, but I'm pretty sure these particular bumpers were ideed introduced in 1987. So yes, feel free to list it as a 1987 Wolfsburg Edition.

The Wolfsburgs only came in two colors in 1987, Wolfram Grey, which is much darker and Vesuvius Grey, which looks like this:

The other color that comes close to this one is Flash Silver, which would be non-WE and 1988:

I guess it looks more like the Vesuvius?

Makes sense. But it is true these bumpers were introduced in 1987, right?

I got that but just to explain to you that the admin who once set the date didn't seem to notice the bumpers....

Yes, on models like this Vanagon WE (US) or the Caravelle Carat. Lower spec models seem to have the new bumpers 1988
