240? |

I think it was just down to DL, the 240 moniker being dropped; no? |

Where is this old discussion about it? If some were really called this way (just as "DL"), I would support the idea of the name change (though, perhpas it won't help too much ). |

Any chance of a 264 DL - it's got lots of heavy chrome, tinted mirrors, possibly rear window tint, mudflaps .. ?? |

No, by the time this taillight was used on the DL, the 260 series was gone from North America. From what I can tell, it looks like this would be a 1984-85 model, as the 1979-83 DL had the smaller taillights. |

Just an example: /vehicle_310709-Volvo-264-1979.html Some recent links: Manual: Link to "i.ebayimg.com" GLE: Link to "carpatys.com" GL: Link to "williamgrady.com" Wagons: Link to "williamgrady.com" Volvo brochure: Link to "www.volvotips.com" Then, after the 700-series was introduced, they were once again given a numeric name (the 242/244/245 was retained all the way for internal use, such as on the type plate) http://williamgrady.com/storage/1986_volvo_240_ad.jpg And, the overrated Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_200_Series#North_American_market -- Last edit: 2013-07-11 10:47:36 |

Ah - I thought there was some "hot discussion" with many votes for no. So the "2x0" (240 in fact) badge had to back in 1986, as I understand (and judging by the cars for sale). But, I guess I know, why this idea was ignored - 15 pages of cars to change: /vehicles.php?resultsStyle=asImages&yearFrom=1979&yearTo=1985&makeMatch=2&make=volvo&modelMatch=1&model=244&modelInclModel=on&modelInclChassis=on&origin=&madein=&madefor=&role= + some [264]. But more important - someone with better knowledge of these Volvo trim levels specifications needs to check them. Anyway IMO, they should be listed accroding to their official, at the time, names. -- Last edit: 2013-07-11 12:30:54 |
