this may have been a real Met car, since there's a few actual units in this plate series: Link to "www.emergency-vehicles.co.uk" https://www.emergency-vehicles.co.uk/Emergency-Vehicles-Online/UK/UK-Police/Metropolitan-Police/Vauxhall-Astra/i-7P8kck7/A Link to "www.emergency-vehicles.co.uk" https://www.emergency-vehicles.co.uk/Emergency-Vehicles-Online/UK/UK-Police/Metropolitan-Police/Vauxhall-Astra/i-gTS7pvs/A

I wonder if some film cars back in the 1980s and 1990s/early 2000s were real Met vehicles set aside for TV/film productions because there are quite a few Met vehicles that fell into actual fleet batches here on the site in various London area productions.

Most likely it's just an ex-Met car bought by a prop company, the livery looks dodgy (the stripe ends too far from the headlamp, also think the badge is wrong for a 1995 car).

Ex-police cars are much cheaper here than standard retail used cars and more realistic for police cars (Vauxhall in particular used different specs) so for prop companies it's a lot better for them than using a normal used car.

must have had a fairly short and rough life in the Met (would have been out of service by mid 1997) considering its earliest appearance was in CI5: The New Professionals: /vehicle_1081696-Vauxhall-Astra-1995.html

i think this car was the car crashed in London's Burning: /vehicle_835146-Vauxhall-Astra-1995.html hence why it looks so strange here (filmed a year prior, so would have gotten a rebuilt front and new paint/markings)

Earliest appearances of it seem to be from series filmed in 1998, pretty usual for police forces here to defleet cars after 3 years back in those days, particularly with standard patrol cars like Astras.
