The Correct name is: Jaguar E-Type. And it is a Jaguar E-Type Convertible. |

Originally the site was in french so lots of cars were entered with their french name, like the E-Type which is called "Type E". |

In North America the E-type was infact sold as the XK-E http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B4106-3.jpg |

It's a series 1 E-type. Most likely a 4.2 due to the seats, which would make it a late 64 to early 67. -- Last edit: 2007-05-11 00:44:17 |

Very poor condition for a 4 to 5 year old car. |

One thing I never understood about this really remarkable movie was the explosion in the Jaguar (shown in the fourth of the smaller pics)before the car leaves the road. |

Supposed to simulate a tire blowing, I believe. |

Always looked like a hell of a dangerous stunt, I've never been sure if there was a stuntman or just a dummy in the car when it goes over, surely no one would be crazy enough to flip a convertible into a river... would they? Anyone know the history of this E-type (Always upper case E, lower case t) and how it came to be in the film? |

I don't think it had a stuntman. This is really dangerous. A convertible flipping over and crashing on its hood twice... almost impossible that anyone could survive. (but in the movie the driver survives without a scratch) |

It was British elegance VS. Detroit Muscle- and it went sour for the Foreigner! |

I love the history that this car exudes. You can tell from the damage and overall distressed look of the vehicle that this guy likely challenges motorists regularly; I wonder how many he's run off the road only to be beaten by, of all things, a vehicle literally called "challenger". |
