25/30? Wraith? |

1949 Jaguar XK-120. 3.4 litre DOHC straight six developing 160 horsepower. The '120' referred to its 120 mph top speed. A beauty. |

1936-38 25/30. Most likely. -- Last edit: 2015-08-05 04:08:18 |

The 25/30 and the Wraith are two different models, the Wraith being introduced in 1939, with a welded rather than riveted chassis and IFS rather than a solid front axle. So not likely. -- Last edit: 2015-08-04 23:41:22 |

Sorry that was a typo. I checked what both looked like and didn't realize until now what I typed. |

I think you may be correct, but it is very difficult to tell unless you know the car. It is also equally hard to call the coachbuilder, which is half the identification of these cars. |

It is most definitely a Phantom III and by the way the 25/30 h.p. Wraith is the full name of the Wraith model. |

... which would give 25 entries to change, and would unite them with 8 existing 25/30 h.p. Wraiths. What does The Grand Council of RR Experts recommend?? |

The 25/30 is the earlier series of cars, with a beam front axle and no model name. It was in production from1936 to 1938 and was roughly equivalent to the 4 1/4 Derby Bentley. The Wraith was still 25/30 in respect of its 4257cc engine, but had a different chassis with ifs, and was roughly equivalent to, although far more common than, a Mk V Bentley. (491 produced as opposed to 11.) My view would be that you can call the Wraith what you like, but it must be clearly different from just 25/30. S & G just calls it Wraith. -- Last edit: 2017-04-28 21:55:58 |
