The car in "Charlie Chan in Paris" is a 1927 Hibbard & Darrin Hispano-Suiza H6B 'Sedanca de Ville' which was made for James Oviatt, Los Angeles's "haberdasher to the stars". Oviatt began renting his car to movie studios (and, for a time, to Katharine Hepburn) after 1930. It was prominently featured in the 1932 movie "Grand Hotel", and also appeared in "Arsène Lupin" (1932), "Berkeley Square" (1933), and "Charlie Chan at the Olympics" (1937), among others.
