The disc wheels suggest that the car is pre 1939. The bonnet does not appear to have the louvres of a post-war car, but neither does it appear to have the hinged flaps of a prewar one. The chrome radiator grille was 1934/5 and then 1937 onwards, and the British cars were called either Super Modern 12 (1302cc engine), 12 (1628cc engine), Sports 12, or Light 15 (1911cc engine).

Take your pick.

Pre-war cars had much smaller hubcaps on disc wheels or Pilote wheels. Although the louvers on the bonnet are not well visible, this must be a louvered bonnet (by the lack of the extra hinges). The stone guards on the wings also make this a post-war version(I think these are of the 1948+ type). Only wrong element is the thin bumper and I think these post-war disc wheels were used only on the Big Fifteen.
I'd list it as a 1948 Light Fifteen, even though the wheels and the bumpers don't really match (but who cared, back in 1985?). After the war, the Twelve wasn't built anymore.
