Ford Taunus"Weltkugel"12m Kombi |

I would love to know who at Ford Werke AG decided to call it the "Weltkugel"... |

The name of "Weltkügel" probably was not originating from the Ford Werke themseves but from the buying public referring to the styled world globe hood ornament present on the first Taunus 12 M's ( G 13) of 1952-1955.One either had the old style "Bückel" Taunus or the new "Weltkügel" .Marketeers do not always anticipate what their product will be called. This one is a more recent 3-door Kombiwagen 1959-1961. |

It's a Taunus 12m Kombi 1959-62 (G13KO), without the "Weltkugel"-emblem at the front. The nickname "Streifen-Taunus" is used for this model, caused by the white stripe at the sides. The name "Turnier" is first used for the Kombi's of Taunus 12m 1962-66, and Taunus 17m 1960-64. -- Last edit: 2008-09-07 17:31:44 |
