Probably more like a heavy duty C-30 model, its also either a crew cab or a Suburban... |

Was this one researched to be an '87 model? |

I defaulted it back to the 1985 model year just to be safe. For reference, that grille was used on 1985-1988 models. Interior: |

This was one of the vehicles (if I remember correctly) that was remotely controlled by the T-X terminator to chase down the terminator, John and Kate. Its funny as (in reality) these "rounded-line" trucks would not have had much electronics for the T-X to control. The bulk of the electronics added was near the end of the rounded-line generation’s life cycle. The 1987 model year introduced electronic ignition controls, engine management and computer-controlled electronic throttle body fuel injection. The 4-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 700R4 automatic gearbox did have a 12 volt electronic circuit to control the lockup torque converter, however all shift scheduling was done via hydraulic shift logic, there were no electronic shift controls. The steering was variable power assist coupled with 4-wheel power assist brakes (front disc, rear drum). Unless the producers were hoping to imply that the truck was a '87 model (and I highly doubt they were ) there would be no way for the truck to be remotely controlled as they show in the movie, even if it were a 1987 model. |

Are there additional running shots of the truck showing the front end/under belly? |

Yes, the T-X remotely controlled this truck, the Econoline ambulance, and 2 Crown Victoria police cars. Unfortunately I do not have additional shots of the front end/under belly. I don't believe it was ever even visible. |

It also had a cable accelerator instead of drive by wires. In fact, I don't think GM offered Drive By Wire until a few years ago. But being a C-30, wouldn't it have a TH400 instead of the 700R4? -- Last edit: 2013-11-28 17:31:30 |
