For sure a Slough built model (round taillights). |

The DS was produced in Slough from 1955 to 1965, and the DS21 was introduced in 1965. So it's a Citroën DS19 from somewhere between 1955-65. |

Definitely Slough built as stated by DynaMike. Just as a point of interest, it is possible to see the shape of the dashboard which is of the ID rather than DS type. Also the rear wings are of the style which appeared first in about 1960. Earlier models had different reflectors and the wings were actually slightly shorter. I owned a 1959 DS and the wings were of the older type. The age can be narrowed down further by research into the B and C pillars which were of the corrugated, silvered finish later on. I would hazard a guess at around 1961/62 for this car. -- Last edit: 2015-02-14 22:15:22 |

UK ID from March 58. Longer rear wings on F DS and ID from Aug 59 (no info on when UK changed). No info on B/C pillar changes. So at least 58, maybe 59+??? |

dsl Your comments are much appreciated. I should have done some more research! My only additional thought is that the dashboard appears to be of the slightly later ID style which had a black 'top' over the wood fascia. I did own a 1961 ID which had that style of dashboard and also the same B and C pillars. I suppose the number plate might give the answer if there was any means of researching it. |

It was just checking a book - I'm not a Citroenista, so can only quote info rather than apply it confidently. But we have a few Citroenistas ... Jersey and other Channel Islands plates are impossible to date - they get issued and when the car is scrapped/exported the plate is returned and re-issued to next applicant and so on. This plate looks like J3026 (4 numbers only), but J5040 had been issued in 1930, so has already been through the system at least twice. |
