Orange is 70+ UK Mini 1000 (I think I can see rear side window catches so not 850) - maybe 73+ as no wing mirror - replaced by door mirror. Foreground is Innocenti with quarterlights. Never thought about this before, but did France have a period in early 70s when both UK and Innocenti Minis were sold in parallel? If not is there a change-over date? |

Like in Portugal, the Mk III Mini was sold in France as Austin or Morris in the beginning of the 70s. There was a 850 de Luxe and a 1000 Super de Luxe and I'm not sure about this being a 1000 since it doesn't seem to have the chrome trim in the windscreen seal. I guess that certain Innocenti ones, like the 1001 and the Cooper 1300, were sold in parallel with UK Minis. |

Fair enough - switched to 850. This has a Mini bonnet badge, so presumably after Austin/Morris dropped and another reason to go for 73+. |

Yes, Innocenti Cooper 1300 arrived after the end of MKIII Cooper. Then we had 1000 Minimatic (1000 manual were UK made) and 1001 for 1974 MY. Italians Mini had a more upscale image (and were more expensive) than British ones, both sold by British Leyland France. |

Thanks. Mk3 Cooper was only sold as Cooper S and stopped June 71 as BL pushed the 1275GT instead, so Innocenti Cooper 1300 in F would be from that point on (if I remember correctly there was even a brief attempt to sell it in UK in 72 with RHD conversion - but I think BL threatened legal action about licensing territories to protect the 1275 GT). 1000 Minimatic and 1001 in F would be very short run before Innocenti collapsed end 74/early 75. |
