Little bit of trivia there on The Beast episode - the neighborhood backlot where Reed and Malloy investigate the warehouse robbery is the same used in Kiss Me, Stupid with Dean Martin. The station and house should be instantly recognizable to anyone who's seen both the episode and the film (and remembers Dean Martin's Dual-Ghia, no doubt). And while we're on the Hollywood connections of the era: The episode was directed by Robert M. Leeds - Donna Douglas' husband. Likely the reason she showed up in this episode (other than the usual pool of SAG actors that made the rounds on this show). He also directed a good deal of Beverly Hillbillies episodes from 1969 through 1971, in addition to the Adam-12 episode Badge Heavy from this season. One other bit: The trailered car in this episode is obviously the AMC Matador used on the show by this season, but the dash shots are from a '71 Satellite - column-mounted key and all. '68/69 Belvedere (and Satellite models) look similar, but a bit less broughamesque. -Kurt -- Last edit: 2024-09-30 23:01:35 |
