North Korea isn't a LHD country? Why instead this bus is RHD, with doors on the left side? The same applies for /vehicle_532736-Nissan-Civilian.html |

Lots of Japanese vehicles have been imported and are in use in North Korea. They use both LHD and RHD vehicles. |

North Korea imported a lot of secondhand vehicles from Japan during the 1990s and early 2000s. I've read that the authorities have tried several times to ban them, since relying on enemy products is ideologically rather embarrassing. Certainly recent photos of Pyongyang show many more Chinese and other non-Japanese marques on the road, including even Ford Transits and Focuses from China. I don't know if all the Japanese vehicles have really been purged, though. P.S. Before the economic collapse in the 1990s North Korea also imported new Japanese vehicles, which of course were LHD. -- Last edit: 2012-09-18 11:32:29 |
