MAN? |

isn't that logo too long to be MAN ? -- Last edit: 2012-08-28 17:35:19 |

It's definitely a MAN. I think it's a 1940-45 ML 4500 S, with a few changes to the grille and differently positioned headlights |

Lateef I don't think this is correct !! there is a major difference Link to "dayerses.com" see the metal plates (Engine cover) that go from the grille to the cabin , on the MAN its all straight and angled BUT on this truck you see in goes more towards the interior (center) on the driver compartment !! also on this truck the fenders (front wheel covers) look to be much higher than on the MAN !! -- Last edit: 2012-08-28 18:09:00 |

And the door-windows are different, too. |

Well, whatever. It's still a MAN, and that's the main point. This is unlike anything I can find though. |

Not maybe something Spanish, as filmed there? Just a badge on a grille says not much. |
◊ 2012-08-28 18:24 |
Pegaso of Hispano Suiza perhaps ? |
◊ 2012-08-28 18:25 |
FOUND SOMETHING could it be a Pegaso like this with a MAN badge added ? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/291/camint693cz.jpg/ |

Much more realistic than Lateef's allegation |

Forget you, Ingo! |

Let's say I partially agree, because it bears a general resemblance, the only part I disagree with is the lower rear part of the cab. Looks nothing like the one in the link. Could be another (possibly later) model, then. Anyway, I will leave it as unknown and never come back. Sound good? -- Last edit: 2012-08-28 18:39:25 |

the second line in badge reads Diesel, i agree the truck doesn´t look MANish or MANic the reason quite simple, as at the location they had many Pegaso or so left, but no MAN at all BTW MAN that size would have been rare even at beginning of WWII a truck of this class would have been Opel Blitz normally -- Last edit: 2012-08-28 23:56:18 |

Good photo for the Willys M38 in the foreground (made to look like a WWII jeep). Clearly shows the right side tool slots, small glove box and aux battery box lid on the cowling unique to the M38. |

so how about just leaving this as a PEGASO and be done with it ? |
◊ 2012-08-29 20:31 |
No, it's bigger than the Blitz. |
◊ 2012-08-29 21:23 |
Better than MAN anyways |

It's a mid-30s MAN F2 H6. Check here, specially the shapes of the grille: Link to "www.kfzderwehrmacht.de" Link to "img.m.club.pchome.net" Till the early 60s, in Spain was quite usual to buy trucks just as chassis-cowl models, and then get a hand-crafted cab made by a coachbuilt company. This way prices (and taxes, specially on imported vehicles) were lower, and coachbuilt cabs were usually roomier and more comfortable than factory-made-ones. Here we simply have an imported MAN with one of this cabs. Pegaso never made normal-control trucks, all were COE types. Hispano-Suiza made normal-control yes, but none with the shape and style of the one in the movie. |
