On the left is a Marina (badged as Morris in 1972 , Leyland from 1973-1975), assembled from CKD packs from England with Australian running gear, axles, interior, etc. On the right is a Hillman Hunter assembled from CKD packs by Chrysler Australia Ltd at their Port Melbourne plant. Vinyl roof perhaps indicating a GT (later known as Royal 660)? |

I think the Hunter is a 660 GT (AFAIK this version with black rear panel was not called Royal, but am open to correction). Marina looks the same one as /vehicle_523412-Marina.html . |

There was a Hunter GT, Hunter Royal and Hunter Royal 660 but not a 660 GT -- Last edit: 2012-08-12 06:50:27 |

For reference it seems there was a 660 GT in 1971 but has several differences from this car, so disregarded here. Googling Aus Hunter GT pictures again, seems their GT was higher spec than UK, nearly up to Sceptre standard and a 1969 version which for 1970 was renamed as Royal, alongside a cheaper poverty trim boyracer with warpaint called the Hustler (some similarities to initial UK Hillman GT). This is a 1969 Hunter GT fairly similar to our picture, although without vinyl roof. But see this 1969 brochure for another with vinyl. So revising to 1969 here. |
