Probably HGD plate, issued Glasgow early 1950. HGO was London, Dec 45 - Feb 48. Melville Dundas & Whitson were major Glasgow-based building contractors - built the Rootes factory at nearby Linwood in 1961 (which made the Imps in this film) and the George V bridge in Glasgow centre in 1924 amongst many other big projects over the years. -- Last edit: 2012-07-10 02:29:43 |

Dodge WC, probably older than the number plate suggests as may be built on a wartime chassis. The British built Kew Dodge trucks looked completely different, having either a flat grille, or the "parrot-nose" cab reminiscent of the Thames ET series. Definetly ex military WW2 CMP truck , still has nudge bar . British army disposed of the 'foreign' trucks after the war and kept the British stuff. -- Last edit: 2012-07-10 10:53:03 |
