21058 is base 2105 with 1.3 engine and RHD. Here we have 2101 engine. |

So we are copying wrong codes from Wikipedia. Do you have better source? -- Last edit: 2012-05-25 21:51:09 |

Glass's guide - only applicable at this level for UK codes - has 21058 for Riva and Riva L with 1196cc (and adds 21058L for July 87 Riva Celebration limited edition - stereo cassette with TWIN speakers!, side stripes, badges and wheel trims - I guess a UK importer production?). UK Riva 1300 is 21056. |

Lada 2105 with engine 1.2 has code 21051, and export version for UK (RHD) as 21056, is not listed on Russian Wikipedia ( http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%90%D0%97-2105 ), but is listed here: http://denisovets.narod.ru/vaz/vazpages/vaz21056.html But in fact rest of the sites, even Russian, list 21056 as RHD with engine 1.3: http://vaz.infocar.com.ua/vaz_21056_c4779.html http://ladapro.com/modeli/katalog-modelei/vaz-21056.html http://www.clafre.com/vaz/zhiguli/21056.php http://www.avtoportal.ru/models/modif1273_%D0%92%D0%90%D0%97_21056.html http://autodaily.ru/information/catalogue/vaz/2105/model-9562.html Where is mistake? 80s manual - mentions "1200 L", doesn't mention 21058, only 21056... Link to "www.ebay.com" -- Last edit: 2012-05-25 22:40:56 |

You know your Ladas and I don't, so the decisions are yours. I have this one source of information which is a UK motor trade guide published each year. My experience is that what they say is pretty well 100% accurate and data was supplied by manufacturers and/or importers; where Glass's has caused problems is incomplete information - things being missed out, but not things being wrong. Have checked mid and late 80s editions a few years apart and info is unchanged (so presumably no-one found any errors at the time and everyone used the data then without problems). The 21056 and 21058 codes started with the UK Rivas from May 83 if that helps - before then was 2101x for pre-Riva 1200 and 1300. And that's as much as I can add. |

@dhill_cb7: forgive me for asking, but what's the point of reposting the plate number when it's already here? |
◊ 2025-03-27 18:30 |
A reminder for myself to go back and check the app to see if I can pull the VIN. I sometimes post a period too when the plate is already there without spaces. The app doesn't accept spaces in the plate sequence. The DVLA check always seem to have a space in the plate. If you try and copy the plate with a space the app kicks back out and makes you reenter the plate. Edit: see above. I delete the plate and post the VIN if I can get it. If I can’t I normally say “no vin on the app or part site.” -- Last edit: 2025-03-27 19:51:56 |
