1968 to 76 Humber Sceptre. My Father in Law bought one of these new in 1971, BRE 215J. It was a nice car to drive, with a bit more go than the Hunter, and an overdrive for third and top as standard. It went rotten as fast as any car you could think of, and when it was too far gone he bought the Wolseley 18/85S second hand. |

My dad had 2 of these when he worked for Rootes - WYH 156H in polar white and TDU 852J in glade green - I loved them. He washed them every week with my help - I even had my own special sponge - so they were always shiny and never had a hint of rust ... This is very early example after Sept 67 launch - YRO xxxF series issued Sept-Dec 67. |

There's the difference. My f-i-l was a typical farmer, he never washed a car if he could do something else, and lived at the end of a lane, the last 400 yds of which was not surfaced. At one point the lane went under a railway bridge and the dip used to fill with water, so his cars were never dry, and always covered in mud and cow exhaust. |
