They're fake plates. The one with that says "97" is clearly a doctored '87 plate (that style of lettering was common before the EU standard plates came around in '91). Irish number plates like these always show either (i) the year it was registered (if first registered in Ireland), or (ii) the year of manufacture if imported. Registrations do not change with owners. Put 96D60721 in www.cartell.ie, and it says it is registered to a Isuzu. |

It's likely those registrations were not in use during the making of the film, as they are quite high numbers in the sequence.
