According to the data plates, these were cab & chassis units, which went under the designation M-1031. The powertrain was the same as the other military and civilian pickups, using the 6.2 liter 379 J-Series Detroit Diesel V-8 with Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. Conventional four-wheel drive was standard issue, with two-speed dual range New Process Gear 208 transfer case and permanent 50/50 torque distribution. The front and rear propeller shafts were locked at all times in Four High and Four Low modes. The two-speed dual range New Process Gear 205 transfer case was used in applications that required a power take-off unit (PTU). Either the Eaton automatic differential lock (ADL) or No-Spin differential lock were fitted per military’s request. -- Last edit: 2012-04-25 20:58:58 |
