1965-72 W108 S-Class I think.

Almost agree, as I recognize the aluminium strip around the rear windscreen and the door handles.
However, the [W108] were never, as far as I know, fitted with the longer rear doors, so I'd to say this is a [W109] instead.
That is a 1965-72 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL [W109].

Sorry zodiac, but this is not correct. SE and SEL just have different wheel bases, that's all, without any coherence with the engines. This goes fpr other S-Klasses, too.
The difference between W108 and W109 is the suspension (not the engine-size either). The W109 has the air suspension, the W108 the conventional version. See: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes_W109

@ingo:
I'm sorry! I was just checking the [W109], and found out that that model wasn't made without long wheel base. My mistake was to not check that a few of the [W108] was made with long wheel base as well .
I'm well aware that the [W109] had air suspension, as I'm trying to get a 1967 250 SE [W108.014] running after haven't been in use for some 10 years, and the air suspension would have been yet another problem to solve.
One small comfort is that when adding the figures at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W108 it is slightly more likely this is a [W109] (23.430 made) than a [W108] (17.374 made). That is roughly 60% to 40% in relation.

This is definitely 100% a W109! …not a W108.

Both models where made with the 10cm longer wheelbase, but only the W109 had the chrome trim around the upper/window edges of the door. Both models had a small chrome trim around the windows, but only the W109 had the extra chrome around the door edge, as well as on the A-pillar (not seen in the picture).

Being an owner of both models, I say this is a W109! …no doubt!
