I would say it's a 1953 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton, despite the side mirrors and - probably - the bumper are not stock. A bumper divided in 3 segments is something found in later models from '60s and '70s, not available in those early years, so this very truck is probably slight modified (at the time, in Brazil, Truckers used to replace the gasoline engines with diesel engines from Mercedes Benz, for instance). Those bumpers are from Chevrolet Veraneio: |

Maybe it is late 1952, so what is commonly called 1953-model-year? -- Last edit: 2012-04-04 16:42:37 |

@ antp: Things were messy around here on the early stages of our automotive industry. It's very likely many pre-production units of a given model being built in a determined year and sold as a "next year". This practice still exists, and almost all manufactures sell a 2012 car as a 2013 or even 2014 model (but now all of them are registered as year/model with accuracy). For example, the first units of our Maverick (which began in production in late 1973) were all sold (and registered) as 1974 models. Officially, there isn't a single brazilian 1973 Ford Maverick, although, those built in 1973 can be tracked by their chassis number. |
