1970+ Hillman Avenger (known as the Plymouth Cricket in the USA) |

No, rather a 1971+ Sunbeam 1250/1500 (Hillman Avenger in the UK). |

Looks like the badge reads Hillman to me. |

Yes it's Hillman badge, and the other bit probably reads Super 1500 (and car has partial traces of the Super coachline), so 70-73. AFAIK the numbers-instead-of-name (1250/1500 70-73 and 1300/1600 74 onwards) was only used in W Europe. All English-speaking destinations kept Avenger (eg Aus, NZ, HK, Singapore, ZA etc) apart from US and possibly CDN as Cricket. Some other non-English-speaking destinations kept Avenger (eg E Europe, Greece, Yugoslavia, Iran). I'll leave South America out of this discussion. The Hillman/Sunbeam issue is also confusing - I'm generally happy that export Avengers of all titles were Sunbeam almost everywhere, but have had slight doubts about HK before - whether they in fact kept Hillman name for Avengers (and assorted Arrows and maybe Imps as well). However /vehicle_434689-Sunbeam-Avenger-1970.html is definitely Sunbeam with the diagnostic red badging. So there is some overlap I can't define or explain for HK and maybe other parts of Far East. |
