1953-54 Willys Aero , based on the trim I would go for a six cylinder Aero Ace

Not a '54. By then, all models had one-piece windshields.
Not a '52 because there were no 4-doors that first year.

The online '53 Willys brochure seems to show similar side trim across the board.
The Ace has a larger rear window and full wheel covers but neither shows in the subject photo.
If that is chromed side window trim I see, then it should indeed be an Ace.

I'm wrong and I should have known it.

This cannot be an Ace owing to the 2-piece windshield. All Aces and Eagles had one piece W/S in '53.
This is either a Lark or a Falcon. Have not been able to discern any exterior differences between those two.

The online brochure pictures the Falcon with bumper guards and the Lark without them but same could be optional equipment(?)
Of course, the bumpers do not show in the subject photo so that's no help.

Any chance for a more distant shot showing the bumpers?

From further research, it appears Larks had rubber W/S moulding while Falcons had chromed ones.
Does that look like chrome or rubber to you in the photos?

Only this picture. No other.

I'm leaning toward rubber moulding.
As such, will list as Aero Lark pending dissent.

In 1954, some 1953 Aeros were reserialed as 1954's. They were given 1954 bolt-on items like bumper guards, headlight & parking light bezels and taillamps. Since some 1953 Larks were re-serialed, they still had the split windshield but no chrome around them. This could be an "early special" '54 Lark, but I would leave it listed as a '53.

That's new info to me, also.
Would like to know your source.

I've been keeping a registry of these cars since 1981. Check out the website: http://clubs.hemmings.com/willysaero/ I've been doing a lot of research over the past 36 years (I bought my first in 1978 and still have it. You can see it at the end of "The Rosa Parks Story" with Angela Bassett, 2002).
