It seems to only be a name used in ads. The US name would only be "Van" then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Van

The movie is a comedy and in one scene the van is to be used as a getaway car for a bank robbery. Its spotted by the main character and he chains the rear of the van to a street lamp or something. The robbers jump in and then drive off and the van splits in two.

This "Van" is ugly. But most were in the 80s/90s.

I learned how to drive stick shift on this van. Ours was a 1984 LE (it didn't have an official name because it was initially designed to be a cargo van)and ours had the ice maker option. You had to have the air conditioning running full blast, but (if I remember correctly, it's been a while) it would channel all the cold air into the ice maker/beverage cooler.

Imagine driving through the Nevada desert westward towards California on a road trip.

"Sorry, guys. No A/C, but I've got cold drinks!"

Tough trade off.
