Why '71? Personally I don't see any difference between it and '68-'70 models |

What's the top speed of the Nova? |

Large, amber-colored lights in the front bumper were exclusive to '71 and '72. The '68-'69 cars had amber lights, but they were narrower. The 1970 models used the large lights, but they had clear lenses on them. This car is a '71-'72. Depends on too many factors to even tell. Cars could be equipped with anything ranging from an inline six to a tame 307 V8 to a hot 350 small block to a 396 big block or even a Corvette 427 (in 1969 COPO and Yenko models only). They could also have anywhere from 2 to 4 speeds in the transmission, and rearend gear ranging from sub-3.00 all the way to at least 4.11. To confound things further, the example used in this movie is a customized base-model Nova...no doubt with a hotter engine dropped in and probably a non-stock transmission and rear axle as well. A totally generic build of a custom Nova...let's say with a 300 horsepower 350 V8, a TH-350 3 speed automatic transmission, and a 3.55 geared axle, would probably go about 120 mph flat out. Add or subtract based on gearing. |

This same Red Nova seems to have appeared in several movies circa 2002-2003 e.g. fastlane - and I think there was one like it in gone in 60 seconds |
