probably ( even surely ) something i don't get but why VIN would start by 1 if it was built over there ? |

1 means it is a US model. The plant is digit 11 - U. I believe that is Austria. Edit: US origin. Model may confuse people thinking it was a USDM. -- Last edit: 2020-12-30 21:06:04 |

I think BMW did this with the SUVs built here (they carry German VINs with a starting W). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_in_the_United_States - the example I was looking for was from a Norwegian film. Can’t find it right now... |

Very common on European cars. All Fords and Opels/Vauxhalls after a certain point always have a German VIN with a plant code saying where it's built. |

thanks ![]() i think part of my idea came from my cars VINs ( Tempo had 1, was built in US, Protegé had J , was built in Hiroshima, Japan and my Versa has 3 , built in Mexico ( i won't try to write the city's name, i'll misspell it for sure ) -- Last edit: 2020-12-30 21:44:16 |

Off-topic: the Zepro stickers are somewhat of a joke, as it's a major Norwegian manufacturer of truck liftgates. About the other stickers, the yellow on the right is NAF (Norwegian Automotive Association) and on the left there's Turtle Wax and that smiley heart on wheels is the logo for Bilist 2000, a contemporary traffic safety campaign. I remember seeing those little heart stickers all over as a kid, but I never figured out what they were for until now. |

is NAF similar to CAA here or its just something else ? |
