Apart from this, you only see interior shots of Thatcher (Meryl Streep) riding in this, here's some behind the scenes photos which show more of this car: Link to "www.dailymail.co.uk" |

It's a 1983 car: http://www.themoviecarcompany.co.uk/movie_car_gallery_8.html Also, this car was actually used by Thatcher herself in real life: http://www.klmagazine.co.uk/2012/03/the-local-man-whos-driving-the-movies/ It seems LWB and I don't think Jaguar normally offered a LWB model for the Series III range (must be a special order car) The vehicle details for RYP 899Y are: Date of Liability 01 08 2013 Date of First Registration 22 11 1990 (this is one week before Thatcher resigned as PM. Car may have had a different plate when it was with the government, or was kept off the DVLA records) Year of Manufacture 1983 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 4235cc Fuel Type PETROL Vehicle Colour BLACK It must be wearing a fake plate in the Daily Mail photos. -- Last edit: 2012-12-01 13:18:17 |

RYP xxxY series has interesting reference in Glass's - no dates and phrase "London Central - Re-reg". Also applies to RYN, RYO, RYR and partially to RYM with Y. The Daily Mail ![]() |

When I entered the listing for this (before the pics were added) I had found a site that showed photos of the Sovereign 4.2 badges more clearly, but that Daily Mail article has the most pics of the car. But if I hadn't found these photos, we'd probably would have had another long discussion about which particular model this is. |

I know this car and its whereabouts, I have seen the documentation to prove this was one of Margaret Thathchers Daimlers when she was prime minister. Whilst in government service it was under diplomatic plates and then replated when sold off after her term, as are all ministerial vehicles. Some photos of this car can be found on the movie car company website. I can get photos of this car and its badging and will post once Ive worked out how to! |

But I've already posted a link to the photos of it on the Movie Car Company site. |
