This scene was the reenactment of the murders of rangers; Mederic Cote and Ernest Saint-Pierre who were both shot by Mesrine and his partner; Jean-Paul Mercier at a forest track near Plessisville in L'Erable Regional County Municipality, Quebec on the afternoon of the 10th September 1972.

In the reports, Mesrine and Mercier along with Mercier's girlfriend were heading back to their hideout after a day of target practice when they came across the rangers.

When the rangers discovered the loaded guns in the back of Mesrine's car, Cote possibly alerted by the guns suddenly recognized Mesrine and Mercier and led Mesrine and Mercier to shoot and kill the rangers.
