Ummm .... er ... my loyalties are Rootes first but I like the Mk1 and 2 Cortinas for having a specific design philosophy and the Mk2 for its neat simple styling. Mk3 too bloated and started the decline into mid-market porridge, Mk4&5 a triumph for marketing over product - nothing wrong with them but nowt to shout about. |

The only problem with Mk.I and II 'Tinas (apart from thinnish metal and rattles) was that the small-engined ones (1200s and 1300s) were thirstier than the 15/1600s. I've driven both, owned a Mk.II 1300 ... |
