Hudson/Essex by the positioning of the door handles. Hudson was much too expensive to use as a taxi, which most probably makes this an Essex. The 4 door sedan was reintroduced in 1925 after being discontinued in 1922, however, this is one of the newer style that came for 1927. Belt line moldings as seen here were added to the car in the summer of that year, but this car has the rounder third side window that was added in 1929 when the sedans were split into Standard Sedan and Town Sedan. This would be a 1929 [The] Challenger Town Sedan (closed C pillar on the Standard). For 1930 Essex abandoned their unique door concept and reverted to the opposing style the competition had been using for years. |
