1986 version (cheaper added version of the Fire). It could be for Italy as it has got the front Autobianchi badge instead of the Lancia one used for most export market, as France. |

What does "Fire" meant? |

It is the name of the engine. Clearly, they had a sense of humour as my friend had a Fiat Punto 1.2 Fire and quite often the engine refused to Fire up. -- Last edit: 2012-05-30 14:53:38 |

F.I.R.E. = Fully Integrated Robotized (Robot buildt) Engine. Cheaper, lighter engines used by Fiat since 1985. |

"Robotized" meant EFI-equipped? |

Not necessarily EFI, but the whole engine was built completely by robots. Nearly thirty years ago that was a gimmick. |
