Optional on 1998-1999s. Also, 1998 & 1999 320s could have painted bumpers or had the option of this. We have a decent amount of 1998s & 1999s with painted bumpers on our site. I don’t think this was a factory option as the build sheets don’t mention this but with all those above examples I don’t think we should use the bumpers as a determining factor? Most of those are in Europe not the US. We can also look at the mirrors to determine the year - they were painted after 2000. I think if you find a 98-99 in the US with painted bumpers, it was likely done by a used car dealer to try and increase the resale value. Looking at aftermarket body part websites, I saw lot of primed bumpers available. Primed meaning ready to be painted. Didn't see any textured bumpers which is what the gray bumpers were. Might prove there were factory painted bumpers. Or that the textured are no longer available and someone has no choice but to buy the painted bumpers.  |

@dhill_cb7 - did you read my comment which said that many if not most 98-99 MLs that had the bumpers painted at a later stage, don't have painted mirrors? As such, if we see one with painted mirrors it's quite safe to assume it's a 2000+. -- Last edit: 2022-01-21 08:31:04 |
