Badging is definitely as used on the Bedford Blitz

But perhaps [CF] should be shown for the chassis designation?

Hmm, I wonder if the Blitz name is mostly for the german market and used there when the Opel Blitz was discontinued? They even use the Opel-logo in combination with the Bedford badges.
My father had one of these in the mid-seventies called Bedford CF 250. The CF could be put into chassis code for these models named Blitz, so they appear on a search for Bedford CF

I am quite certain that it is not a Bedford Blitz, i.e. German market version, but the original Bedford CF.
Reasons:
1. It is a right-hand drive -- see the steering wheel and the windscreen wipers.
2. It is an ice-cream van as used in Britain -- this body-style is unknown in Germany.

Why is a 1973 model?

It Might be a '73 because that was what was available. Later part of movie was set in early '73.

In other words, there's no evidence for saying that it's a 1973 model.

In fact, it might be later. If I remember aright, the black headlamp bezels were introduced towards the end of the model run; I once had a 1975 model with white bezels.

yep..a standard Bedford CF fitted with an English made fibre glass ice cream body by Morrisons..colour of headlamp bezels no use here, they are, in this instance, painted the same red as the bumper and side strip...problem with ice cream vans is the owners paint them in the particular familys livery..it would not have left the factory in this colour..so the headlamp bezel colour, in this instance,is irrelevant.

Morrison conversion

And here´s a cheerful welcome to all Van Morrison fans! If you found this page via google, you supposedly didn´t find what you were looking for. :D
