2003-2005 model. 2003-2006 models had the two-speed dual range New Venture Gear 225 transfer case with TORSEN® (TORque SENsitive) "torque biasing" limited-slip center differential. Unfortunately the TORSEN® center differential was non-locking, so the four-wheel drive system could not be properly locked when needed. The front and rear differentials were open units relying on four-wheel electronic traction control to control wheelslip and to transfer torque from side-to-side. The all-new four-wheel independent air suspension featured new "cross-linking" (a very clever feature) technology to allow the independent suspension to imitate live axles. When one wheel rises, air is transferred from its air bladder to the air bladder of the other wheel on the opposing side, forcing the opposing wheel down. This is called forced articulation. Again, a clever feature. |
