Info for A77 UVL from dvla: Date of Liability 01 10 2001 Date of First Registration 14 02 1984 Year of Manufacture 1984 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2792CC Interesting that it was still registered in 2001, seeing how it was damaged in this movie in 1998... Maybe that another car was used for the crash then. -- Last edit: 2015-04-13 17:10:00 |

Maybe. I don't think that they're going to crash two of these nice British cars that are in pretty good condition. They could've been borrowed from car enthousiasts for the 'nice' shots and they could've bought shabby 2nd hand ones for the crash scenes. There are some classic and rare British cars in this movie like for example the Rovers, Escort RS 2000 and the Granada (not everyone likes that one though ). |

antp, I agree about possibly being two different cars. Compare the first and third pictures you posted. Before the crash, the car has a towball. After, you can see the towbar and mounting plate but the ball is missing - should be bolted on and unlikely to be dislodged, even after a crash. Also the number plate - before is an old british style, metal reflective plate with plastic '3D' letters stuck on. After, the plate has cracked, like a modern plastic plate would. Looks like it to me, anyway. |

For me the car on the left thumbnail looks dirtier than the crashed one. And I think, the badge says 2.0, not 2.8. |

And didn't have a 2.8 an "i" behind the number? The small badge of the Granada left looks more like "Ghia". |

But it is registered with a 2800cc engine |

You never should trust plates in movies. I have the impression, that it's a bit different with British plates (often the DVLA-registration fits to the car), but normally you can say, that the majority of license-plates in movies are fakes. In German films for sure. |

What would be the odds that the fake plate put on a 2.0 Granada would be registered to a 2.8 Granada? |

Main pic was cropped. |

cropped from what? As it has the same size as the other pics I posted, it was probably shown like that in my DVD... |

A77UVL was my Uncle's old Granada. He owned it for a few years and used it to tow his caravan. He sold it a couple of years before the film was recorded and was led to believe that the buyer was 'going to do it up'. It was quite tidy as it was iirc. What happened after that is unknown, but it obviously eventually ended up in the hands of the film company. The next time I saw it was when I was watching the film and it came as a complete surprise. I tend to remember number plates and this one was no exception. No one knows what happened to it after the film either, but one things for sure - it's great knowing a family member's old workhorse ended up on the big screen! |
