More interesting than a Devon - it's a 2 door so A40 Dorset and the 3rd on the site. |

This car is not a Dorset. The two door car did not have a short window at the rear and you can clearly see the back door handle in the picture above. The Dorset was dropped in early 1949 as it was a poor seller, and I have also looked at the car in the film and there is no doubt that it is a Devon, at the point in the film where it reverses into the Royce XT 209, the back door is clearly visible. Neither car could be described as interesting, grey porridge is more like it! |

Yes I can clearly see a door handle, but only one. I suppose there could be another hiding in the shadow but it's not easy to work out..... Other points about window size accepted, and if you've checked the film I surrender and agree back to Devon. |

If you go to the fourth thumbnail in the series posted by Vilero under the picture of XT 209, you can see for yourself. I have also posted a 3/4 rear view of the Dorset so that you can see the difference in size of the rear windows, the Dorset was 4-light, the Devon 6-light. http://www.flickr.com/photos/35655801@N06/3298276826/ -- Last edit: 2011-06-17 21:43:19 |

Thanks to john from Staffs and dsl for the previous discussion. That's why I IMCDB Rewatching the scene, the Austin gets three side window. When it's in rear gear (barely) the driver's head shows through 1st. side window. |
