Reported to be /vehicle.php?id=23114 - 1939 Bedford WHG 30 cwt, DBM 278. Quote "... ... seen in the film 'Battle of Britain'. It was never used by the RAF and was painted grey for the film. ... It is Pat Langley's, which is ex-London Transport, Chiswick Works. It was sold to a film prop Co, and grey for Battle of Britain. It also appears in The Early Bird a Norman Wisdom film. There was also a Leyland in Battle of Britain which was filmed in Tooley Street, London. It seems that the machine had nothing to do with airfields, fire cover then as now would have been provided by the RAF. Of course it was the NFS who painted the trucks grey, I would have expected the wartime airfield trucks to be either red or RAF blue." - Link to "ipmsuk.proboards.com" . |
