#31 Riley-ERA one-off special, Guy (or Geoff - depending on source) Richardson (driver and entrant) - retired. He was also apparently a British rower who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics. Quote "British GP 1948: the car of TC Harrison was a B type ERA (R8B). Geoff Richardson entered the car which was to became the first RRA. Entered as an ERA-Riley, which means a Riley with an ERA engine, it was based on a Riley special built by Percy Mclure before WW2. It was a Riley chassis with an ERA unit and independent front suspension by the way of the André-Girling system. Richardson acquired it and at first converted the car from offset single-seater form to central single-seater in 1948" - discussion at http://forums.autosport.com/lofiversion/index.php/t84002.html . -- Last edit: 2011-05-06 19:44:34 |
