I say Lincoln Continental Town Car, unless somebody can show me some evidence to the contrary. No love for the '65 Impala going in the other direction? -- Last edit: 2011-04-25 22:34:42 |

The Lincoln is a '77. |

A reference to Christopher Walken's SNL character "The Continental"? ![]() |

I am the very proud owner of the black 1979 Lincoln Town Car in "Kill the Irishman." The car appears to be a 1977 model, becuase I put the fender skirts on the car from that year. I like the look better! |

So I guess that the one exploding is another one? ![]() Can you give us more info about your car and the stunt double? |

No C-pillar window and different wheels on the one that goes boom. |

Yeah, the one that got blown up was a 1978 model. The 1978 did not have the C pillar "opera" window, which in my opinion, is what helps make the whole car. I wouldn't buy a Town Car without the oval window. And the 1978 did have some funky aftermarket wheels. I don't believe I took any pictures of the '78 Town Car. I don't know what else I can offer about my car, except that I've owned her for almost 20 years, and it is THE best car I have ever owned. It was 13 years old when I bought it, and it had only 51,891 miles. Today, the car has 170,000 miles. Truthfully, I have put so many miles on her just because she is so much fun to drive. I take her everywhere when it's nice out. Over the years, I have taken extremely good care of this car - always hand washing and waxing it. The vinyl top is original, and looks like brand new. Only the front clip has been repainted due to stone chips. It's never left me stranded, is plenty powerful with the Ford 400 cid engine, and is just a load of fun. |

I'm glad to hear you have had a good experience with your fine looking Lincoln. Sounds like you feel about your car the way I do about my '85 Crown Victoria. |

Thank you, Commander! I know the Crown Vic is also a great car as my family / friends have owned several during my lifetime. Back in the late 1980's, my friends' dad bought a 1977 LTD from Arizona with low miles. A neighbor of ours had a 1985/6? model, two tone gold. On a family vacation in 1987, my parents rented a brand-new two-tone gray / silver Crown Vic sedan with the red pinstripes. Very popular color combo at the time! I was just a little kid then, but I knew cool cars when I saw them! |

I know what you mean about the 2-toning. Mine is 2-tone blue. |

This scene is supposed to represent the March 1975 killing of Shondor Birns. Burns did indeed perish due to a bomb planted in a Lincoln, however his actual car was a 1975 Mark IV. |
