1989-1991 Chevrolet R-3500 Cheyenne Crew Cab From the capture I can tell the rear-wheels are spinning in the dirt. The front-wheels are not under power, and they’re not going to be, ever. The truck is two-wheel drive. The rear differential lock (if equipped) may or may not be locked. -- Last edit: 2011-04-16 02:02:41 |

In the process of trying to confirm the model year ... |

It could be a 1989 as well. |

I'm sure there's a reason for it not being a 1989. How can it be a Fleetside if it has a utility bed? |

Wow, I can’t believe I did that! I typed Fleetside out of habit since most of the ones on IMCDb are Fleetside, thanks for the catch. It could be a 1989 model, which was what I was in the process of confirming. I wanted to make sure that Chevrolet did indeed add 3500 on the doors for 1989 models, as I know for sure the 1990 model had 3500 on the doors. The Cheyenne trim nameplate was resurrected for 1990 models as the new standard base trim level: But, since I know now it could also be a 1989, I’m not sure what the base trim is. Suburban and Blazer were using Scottsdale for the base trim in 1989, but that doesn’t mean the pickups were. So, I’m now trying to confirm what the base trim was for 1989 ... |

I'm pretty sure Cheyenne was also used for the base 1989 models. I've never found anything to the contrary. |

Its confirmed that Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale, and Silverado were still used for the 1988 model year, but I can’t find a 1989 m.y. GM advertisement or brochure anywhere. It does seem that Cheyenne replaced Custom Deluxe for 1989, but I’m wondering if Scottsdale hung around for 1989. The brochure above confirms it was gone for 1990. If only I could find 1989 documentation, I would be happy ... |

Shouldn't this be listed as Cab-Chassis? |

I agree... the 1989 restyle put the trim levels in line with the redesigned 1988 trucks. |
