I don't think it's a convertible, but a sedan based on a sports car. MG J1? Singer? SS? |

I had same thoughts but wasn't brave enough to say so. SS was as far as I got. |

Might even be an MG NA? |

It might, but I thought the NA was larger. I suggested J1 because the size, wheelbase and rear overhang seemed similar to the four-seater J1s. |

How about a mid 30's Riley? Here's a link to a 1936 Nine Kestrel Saloon Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" which, shortened, might look as the car in the picture. -- Last edit: 2011-04-14 11:02:01 |

I don't think so; I used to know a bit about Riley 9s, because friends owned them and I thought of buying one myself. I've since wondered about Standard Avon Special and Hillman Aero Minx: comments? |

@john: I think this one is for you. |

Can I assume you mean me? Based upon the size and proportions, plus the length of the bonnet and the forward location of the radiator, the latter two of which suggest a six cylinder engine, I think it’s a 1934 ish Wolseley Hornet Special F.H.C. It’s also got wire wheels looking at the light patch on the front wheel. The problem is that as nothing is clearly visible this is about as definitive as I can be. -- Last edit: 2023-10-03 12:26:29 |

Yes indeed! The most knowledgeable John I know of. You mean something like Link to "www.alamy.com" ? I'd imagine this is common knowledge, but I'd like to ask what F.H.C mean? -- Last edit: 2023-10-03 13:05:55 |

Fixed Head Coupé. Thank you for your kind remark. -- Last edit: 2023-10-03 13:09:49 |

Thank you. So a Fixed Head Coupé is a Coupé for four passengers? |
◊ 2023-10-03 13:16 |
They would have to be very small in the back, kids perhaps. A fixed head coupé really covers any coupé version, unlike a drophead coupé, which is really a sporty convertible, or a sliding head coupé which is a two door coupé with a sunroof. When coachbuilt cars started to fade away, these types of names faded away with them. -- Last edit: 2023-10-03 13:28:10 |

Some FHCs were 2-seaters - eg early Jag E-Type, with the later 2+2 FHC launched as a new version alongside, with longer wheelbase and higher roof. |

The term used for some of those was 2 Crush 2. |
