Did they use the Squire name for the Cortina woody? |

1965+ Cortina Super Estate Mk1. Woody trim was simply an option on normal Super estate, but very unusual on 1965+ facelift cars - don't think I've ever seen one before. The other possibility is that this is 1963+ Consul Cortina Super Estate Mk1 with 1965+ grille, as I don't think it has Aeroflow vent on C-pillar. Does this scene have a particular date in the film where 1963 or 1965 might be crucial? Mk1 Cortina assembly stopped Aug/Sept 1966. |

This is a scene from a ford promotional film which also shows good close up shots of the 65+ aeroflow cars being built. its available on dvd by Duke video and is called Ford cortina, family favourite and race winner. -- Last edit: 2011-11-13 20:49:37 |

This film is full of anachronisms on the car manufacturing side which is a great shame as it sets out to be an interesting political / social history project without being dull!! Date is precisely June 1968. And yes they are building Mk 1 Cortina’s, and Mk 2 Cortinas, Corsairs which came from Halewood up to that moment, and even Capri’s it appears. |
