1969 Flower car (funeral parade vehicle) by McClain Sales and Leasing Co. of Anderson, Ind., conversion of a 1969 Cadillac "Calais" coupe [95% sure]. These commecial vehicles usually were made on the special, Cadillac commercial chassis; not this one. McClain had a reputation for building this kind of specialty vehicle at a fraction of the cost of a similar type from the professional car makers. |

By the way, what were these "commercial chassis" looking like when delivered to the body makers? What was the difference with the normal cars? As the front usually look similar to the normal Cadillac, and sometimes even the rear... Well, I guess that I could find the info on your site... -- Last edit: 2006-06-23 23:02:57 |

The Cadillac commercial "chassis" were delivered as "complete cars" but only up to the firewall. Also included, usually, were the dash and insstruments, the rear bumpers and tail lights. The central "body" was all custom built by the specialized coach-building companies. |

So it was missing roof, rear doors, rear seats, rear wings, etc.? Is there a picture available of such "commercial chassis" ? |

Check the pictures at the bottom of the page: http://hearse67.tripod.com/chassis.htm And I just thought this was kinda funny: http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/743/kcar4sw.jpg -- Last edit: 2006-06-27 06:15:24 |

It's a 1970 (at least with my monitor at work). The hubcaps are 1970-style and I think the rear bumper caps and taillight design is from a 70 model. |

I´ll second the words of Mr. Cadillac: It´s a flower car conversion made by McClain Sales & Leasing Co. of Anderson, Indiana/ USA. |

I wonder what they look like with out the flowers. Probably like a Rancharo, El Camino, or a GMC Sprint. |
