History
S/n 101.1007. 1960 Maserati 3500 Vignale Spyder.

1960, 17 Sept., completed by Maserati. Delivered new to Stanley Irving, Rome Italy with Italian registration. Finished in Grigio Florida (light grey) with a Rosso (red) interior, hardtop, Borrani wire wheels.

Supposed to be used in the filming of Two weeks in another Town with Kirk Douglas, Cyd Charisse and Edward G. Robinson (Film location: Rome).

In Washington State for many years.

With Keith Martin, Portland, Oregon. Sold to Rob Peacock, Classic Cars of la Jolla, for $40,000.

1989, 2 Nov., With Rob Peacock at Classic Motors La Jolla, 7903 Balboa Ave, San Diego, CA 92111. CA plate # 2PYG556. Rob had the car lightly restored and spent about $15,000 on the body and paint and another $15,000 on the engine.

1990, 17 May, with B. Villit, Mille Miglia, Inc on Santa Monica Blvd. Dealer # 29569. Odometer reading 77012.

Sold to Peter Sweegers, International Classics, Geldrop Holland, for #130,000.

Sold to Charles Zwolsman.

1992–1993, listed on a stocklist published by Top Cars, Essen, Germany.

1996, one of the many cars owned by Charles Zwolsman and seized by Dutch Customs and Interpol.

2000, 20 Dec, as per P. Roelofs one of the cars at his shop or inspected by Piet after being seized by the Dutch government.

2001, 06 July, as per e–mail from Peter den Biggelaar one of the cars sold at the Dutch Customs “Domeinen” auction.

Sold to an American client in California.

2001, 23 Feb., Ferrari Market Letter, Vol. 27 No. 4, 1/2 page add in the FML. 1960 Maserati 3500 Vignale Spyder s/n 101– 1007. Triple Webers. Wire wheels. Good white paint with good black leather. Runs and drives well. Everything works. Rust free (for a Maserati) and eligible for most of the premier touring events such as the Colorado Grand, New England Rally, etc … Cheap thrills at $65,000.

2002, 26 Jan., for sale in FML by M. Sheehan. Half–page ad on p. 29 [Jan 26] Triple Webers. Wire wheels. Good white paint with good black leather. Runs and drives well. Everything works. Rust free [for a Maserati] and eligible for most of the premier touring events such as the Colorado Grand, New England Rally, etc. Cheap thrills at $65K.

2002, 23 Mar., in FML as above but down to $57,500. Half–page ad on p. 33.

2002, April, sold to current owner.

2003 11 Dec., Major work completed including all new “front–to–rear” wiring harness ordered from Italy and installed, replaced voltage regulator and located and rebuilt correct wiper motor. Machine work to cylinder head, new valve guides and replaced primary cam chain gears. Rebuilt distributor, new ignition wires, rebuilt Weber carburetors, updated brake booster, removed and rebuilt clutch master cylinder, replaced clutch slave cylinder and replaced all brake “soft” lines. Adapted fan motor for heater, repaired heater valve and heater controls. Removed, flushed, sealed, and re–installed gas tank. Replaced front ball joints, packed front wheel bearings and performed front end alignment. Extended road test. Total bill $16,425.00.

2003 December, Engine restoration by Rod Drew’s F.A.I. including engine rebuild with new pistons, liners, bearings, head studs, ad infinitum. Total bill (without dyno work) $14,823.73.

2003, 17 Dec., engine dyno tested by Carobu engineering with 210 hp and a whopping 235 ft lbs of torque.

2004, body redone and new paint by Beckman’s Metalworks. Total bill approximately $12,000.

2004, new interior in black leather and new canvas top by Westminster Auto upholstery. Total bill approximately $7,000.

2004, new bumpers and brackets fabricated and fitted by Beckman’s Metalworks. Grille and windshield surround also metal finished. Total bill approximately $7,000.

2005, January, bumpers finished and out for chrome.

2005, January, Maserati 3500 Vignale Spyder s/n AM101.1007 offered for sale by Mike Sheehan’s.
