I don't think this is [300E] van but the [100E] estate which came in Escort and Squire versions from Sept 55. Squire had woodie side trim to Oct 57 then chrome strips so 56+ Escort or 58+ Squire. Squire stopped Sept 59, Escort in Apr 61, so Escort more likely?? |

Update: full sequence was more complicated, so from the top: Sept 55 Escort (basic, no side trim) and Squire (woodie trim) introduced. Oct 57 Squire woodie trim dropped, replaced by chrome strip, Escort unchanged. Sept 59 Squire stopped completely; Escort upgraded with chrome side strip and sliding windows (in effect it became the Squire). Apr61 Escort stopped. So without sight of grille, dateable plates or name badges the last Squire and the last Escort can not be separated. Might as well keep this as Escort, but change to 1960. -- Last edit: 2011-03-31 15:13:18 |

Interesting as UK built Escort and Squire estates had a two piece tailgate with the top window lifting up and lower half dropping down to floor similar to A55/A60 countryman and vans had thier fuel filler on opposite side to estates so would be seen in this view if this was a Thames. |

These rear doors have larger windows than I'd expect for the van - eg /vehicle_260331-Thames-5cwt-Van-300E-1957.html . |

The rear doors look to be custom; there seems to be some kind of unFordlike V-shaped moulding. |

Update - small rear lights so before Sept 57. Another enigmatic Escort Estste with van doors has just popped up here. |
