It’s a 1973-1978 GM rounded-line pickup with Fleetside/Wideside pickup box. 1979 models were updated with a new recessed fuel port and cap with enclosing fuel door. Has minimal bright metal work, so it’s dressed in basic low level trim. Which is appropriate considering its real life occupation is likely not far from what is depicted in film. Upper class trim pickups: High Sierra, Sierra Classic, Cheyenne, and Silverado were marketed toward well-to-do consumers needing a luxury vehicle that could transport their luxury yacht down to the yacht club, and at the same time, would look nice parked in the garage next to the appropriate Cadillac, Jaguar, or Mercedes of the era. Lower level trims were marketed toward private construction companies, workers, farmers, DIY’ers and the like. Basically you’re "average Joe". These pickups were usually more popular and most importantly, least expensive. |
