Interesting that you mention that. My knowledge of French cars in Vietnam is mostly based on movies I have seen. So if they show the wrong vehicles in movies, I make wrong assumptions.... However I know from photo's that there are more recent French vehicles in Vietnam, I have seen Citroën DS, Peugeot 504, Citroën CX and Citroën GS on photo's in Vietnam. Those lat two cars suggest that there where sales of French cars in the 1970s in Vietnam. I even believe Citroën assembled cars there for a while... Hence it might be possible that the Renault 4 was sold there too.... Have you been to Vietnam and can you perhaps provide more details? |

Imports of French (and other western) cars to South Vietnam would have continued up until the collapse of the South Vietnamese government in 1975. After that, I would think that only cars from the Soviet bloc would have been imported. For instance, I read somewhere that IFA trucks from East Germany are/were a common sight in Vietnam. |
